Children’s Sabbath at Bury St Edmunds SDA Church Highlights Young Leaders

On Sabbath, 28th June 2025, the Bury St Edmunds Seventh-day Adventist Church was blessed with a heartwarming and Spirit-led Divine Service entirely orchestrated and presented by the children of the church. This special programme, lovingly organised by Elder Nicola Mwase-Vuma, beautifully reminded the congregation of Christ’s words: “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 19:14).

From the moment young Luke warmly welcomed the church family and Rayford offered a sincere opening prayer, it was clear that the Holy Spirit was among the church. The offering segment, presented by McBlessed, Maya and Aurora, was a thoughtful reminder of giving with a cheerful heart.

The worship in song was joyfully led by Lily, Aurora and Maya, who guided the congregation through uplifting hymns. Each song echoed the theme of God’s unfailing love and care for His youngest followers.

Felicity and McBlessed delivered the Scripture reading from John 6:1–14 — the miraculous feeding of the five thousand — reminding all of God’s power to multiply even the smallest of offerings when given in faith.

A standout moment in the service was a powerful Adult’s Story titled Jesus and the Children, presented by Roper and Maya, based on Matthew 19:13–14. This creative twist on the usual children’s story format deeply touched hearts across generations, encouraging the adults in the room to remember the simple, trusting faith that children embody.

The congregation was further uplifted by a soul-stirring special item from Anastasia Szasz, who delivered an unforgettable vocal performance. Anastasia sang with such purity, power and emotion that many were visibly moved. Her amazing voice and heartfelt delivery were truly a blessing to all in attendance — a moment of worship that will linger in the hearts of many.

The highlight of the morning was the sermon titled Faith of a Child, delivered with heartfelt sincerity and conviction by Luke Meth — his first-ever sermon. Speaking with clarity and grace, he encouraged all to embrace the kind of faith that moves mountains: the faith of a child. His words, inspired by the love of Jesus and grounded in Scripture, left many inspired and in awe of what God can do through willing young hearts.

The service concluded on a radiant note as the children, each holding a tea light candle, gathered to sing This Little Light of Mine. Their shining lights symbolised the brightness of Christ’s love and the power of even the smallest witness. The sanctuary glowed — not just from the candles, but from the joy and presence of the Holy Spirit. This unforgettable Sabbath was a testament to the promise in Isaiah 11:6: “A little child shall lead them.” We are deeply grateful for the vision and dedication of Elder Nicola Mwase-Vuma and for the faithful participation of every child. May this service be a spark that ignites more young people to take up the mantle of ministry in our churches today.
