Southend’s New Jerusalem Church Welcomes London Ghana for 75 Years of Pathfinder Ministry

Southend-on-Sea, Essex – The New Jerusalem Church in Southend played host to a vibrant celebration on Saturday, 20th September, 2025, as they marked the 75th anniversary of World Pathfinder Day. The occasion saw the church's own Pathfinders welcome around sixty young people from the London Ghana Pathfinder Club.

Dressed in their sharp Class A uniforms, the enthusiastic group, mostly early teens, took charge of the day's events. This included leading the divine service and then stepping out into the community for a mission-focused outreach on the streets of Southend.

For twelve-year-old Jesse Adu Acheampong, a local Pathfinder at New Jerusalem, the day was a huge success. "I'm so happy we got to see all the lovely things the London Ghana Pathfinders have been doing," he shared, "and it was really nice to meet all these people."

Thirteen-year-old Melvina Boateng, who was part of the sixty-strong group from London Ghana, echoed the sentiment. "I really liked the adventure of going on a coach on the Sabbath to do outreach in a different area," she explained. "I'm looking forward to more things like this."

The event was a team effort, with Pathfinder leaders Mr. Ransford Sarpong, Mr. Daniel Tetteh, Mr Eugene Rutayisire, along with other volunteer counsellors, ensuring the day ran smoothly. Elder Jason Essel, who accompanied the group, remarked on the privilege of witnessing such a "joyous and impactful occasion." The day served as a powerful reminder of the global Adventist Pathfinder ministry and its mission to bring young people closer to Christ, as well as making a tangible difference in their local communities.
