Taunton Church Hosts Inspiring Global Youth Day Programme
Taunton Seventh-day Adventist Church recently hosted a vibrant Global Youth Day Programme under the theme “Communion in Action: Are You Normal?”, bringing together young people for a full day of worship, service, and fellowship. The programme highlighted the active role of youth in ministry, both within the church and in the wider community.
The morning service was led by the youth, who were involved in every aspect of the programme, from song service and scripture reading to prayer, special items, and the delivery of the message. A key highlight was the sermon, shared by three speakers under the thought-provoking theme “Are You Normal?”. The message encouraged both young people and the wider congregation to reflect on their identity in Christ and to embrace a life that may stand apart from societal expectations.
The programme also featured a range of creative elements, including a special children’s story and musical contributions from a youth group, creating a dynamic and engaging worship experience. During the service, a “Faithful Presence Award” was presented to outstanding youth, Paida Muridzi, recognising consistent commitment, impactful presence, and dedication to the church and its mission.
In the afternoon, the focus shifted to outreach as the youth participated in a visit to a local care home, Calway House, to praise and worship, visited an unwell church member to pray and sing, and distributed literature, putting faith into action in a tangible way. These initiatives reflected the core purpose of Global Youth Day — serving others and sharing God’s love within the community.
Reflecting on the day, Youth Leader Wesley Nyasing’a shared:
“Our recent Youth Day was a resounding success, echoing the SEC’s call for collaboration and the British Union’s emphasis on seeking joy in faith. We took action, spreading love and kindness through foodbank donations, visitation, and book distributions - sharing timeless truths from ‘Great Controversy’, ‘Counsels on Diet and Food’, and insights on Lifestyle and Health. Visitors joined us, adding to the energy. As we strive for ‘Communion in Action’, we’re reminded that small acts of service can spark big change. All glory to God for the opportunity to serve! Thanks to everyone who made it happen - let’s keep the momentum going!”
The day concluded with a strong sense of purpose and unity, as the youth demonstrated that they are not only the future of the church, but an active and vital part of its present mission.
