Tottenham Lighthouse SDA Celebrates Pastor Appreciation Day

Sabbath, 11 October was designated as Pastor’s Appreciation Day, and its meaning and importance was not lost on the members of the Tottenham Lighthouse Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church. All were delighted to demonstrate their love for Pastor Dr Jude Jeanville, who had served the church faithfully for nine years and counting. Pastor Kwesi Moore, the Ministerial Association Secretary of the South England Conference (SEC) was present and he delivered the day’s message. Also joining us on this special day was Sis Sharon Platt-McDonald, British Union Conference (BUC) Director for Women, Health and Community Services. She said an Appreciation Poem for Pastors Jeanville and Moore. Accompanying her was her beloved husband, Bro Denzle McDonald. Pastor Jeanville’s daughter Melanie, and her two children travelled from Birmingham to be part of the celebration.

It was a very special and memorable day. Under the guidance of Sis Auldrea Onyemenem, the children were keen to express their appreciation by describing their Pastor using the the initial letters from his name, PASTOR JUDE. The congregation smiled as little Ordonique said, ‘R is for Rushing. Pastor Jude is always rushing to a meeting or to his car.’ The Pastoral Team also showed their appreciation by saying a poem entitled, ‘Our Pastor,’ written by Judy Crowe. The Seniors’ Ministry, under the leadership of Elder Bernadette Pond, gave Pastor Jude Jeanville a gift and members gave their love gifts which were placed in a beautifully decorated box and presented to him. Pastor Kwesi Moore was also presented with a gift for himself, and for his wife Sis Michelle Moore who was unavoidably absent.

The Church was about to plan an all-night Prayer and Fasting, but Pastor Jeanville informed us that his attention was  redirected by the Holy Spirit to Isaiah 58:6-8, ‘Is this not the fast that I have chosen… to share your bread with the hungry, … bring to your house the poor… the naked that you cover him…Then you shall call and the Lord will answer.’ Instead of the all-night programme, he announced that for the next seven days, starting Sunday, 12 October to Sabbath, 18 October from 7-9pm the church would open its doors to the homeless and those in need providing them with a warm space, soup, sandwiches, hot drinks and much love and attention. He told the congregation that the cost would be £35 each evening and he was seeking seven volunteers to cover each night’s cost. Many hands went up, including visitors, all eager to participate in this divinely inspired programe.

At Tottenham Lighthouse we are thankful and blessed to have Dr Jude Jeanville as our Pastor. We strongly believe that he fulfils one of God’s promises to His people, ‘And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.’ Jeremiah 3:15.
