True North Triumph: Stevenage SDA Church Celebrates First-Ever Vacation Bible School Success!

After three attempts over six years of hopeful planning and prayer, Stevenage Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Church has finally hosted its first-ever Vacation Bible School (VBS)—and it was nothing short of a spiritual and community triumph. From 28 July to 2 August, the church came alive with laughter, learning, and the joyful energy of children discovering their “True North” in Christ.

Led by the dynamic and passionate Camile Forbes-Briscoe, the VBS team radiated excitement and unity. This intergenerational effort saw seniors lending their wisdom and support, while teens showed up in full force to help guide and energise the younger children. The result? A vibrant, welcoming space that drew families from across the community.

The week began with 39 children and volunteers on Monday, but by Friday that number had soared to 74 as word spread about the incredible experience unfolding at Stevenage SDA. Each day brought new faces, new friendships, and a deeper understanding of what it means to trust Jesus.

Pastor Greg Wilson was a steady and joyful presence throughout the week, engaging in activities and personally presenting certificates and gifts during the graduation ceremony. The church also expressed heartfelt thanks to SEC Children’s Ministries Pastor Rio Espulgar for his help with decorations, and to United Children and Youth’s very own “Uncle Craige” Young, who supported the team throughout the journey and delivered a powerful sermonette during the closing celebration.

Children left the programme singing the VBS songs, proudly clutching their crafts, and carrying home their certificates along with a copy of the Gospel of Matthew. More than just a week of fun, True North VBS planted seeds of faith and community that will continue to grow.

With hearts full and spirits lifted, Stevenage SDA is already looking forward to next year’s VBS adventure—Rainforest Falls. If this year was any indication, the next chapter promises to be even more impactful.

Stevenage SDA’s True North VBS wasn’t just a programme—it was a movement. One that reminded everyone, young and old, that when we trust Jesus, we always find our way.
