Obituary - Pastor Ebenezer O Sackey

With a heavy heart, the South England Conference (SEC) wishes to share the news of the passing of Pastor Ebenezer Sackey. The SEC President, Emmanuel Osei, said, "Pastor Sackey served in the South England Conference for many years before retiring in 2010 and returning to Ghana in 2022." The sad event took place at about midnight on Friday, 14 April.

Pastor Ebenezer Obodai Sackey began his ministry in his native Ghana with the South Ghana Conference after graduating with a Theology degree from the Adventist Seminary of West Africa in Nigeria. He later served as Pastor, Youth Director and Conference President before pursuing a Doctor of Ministry (DMin) at Andrews University, Michigan. His doctoral research focused on 'An approach to Seventh-day Adventist Radio Evangelism in Ghana'. He subsequently returned to Ghana, where he was elected to serve as President of the West African Union Conference.

In 1997, the South England Conference invited him to join its worker force, where he served several churches before his retirement in December 2010. His first post was at the London Ghana church, where he oversaw raising nine other Ghanaian churches during his tenure. He was also involved in raising the All-Nations Camberwell church and instrumental in purchasing and reconstructing the Clapton Community church in London. After his retirement, he responded to several calls from the SEC to serve as a caretaker pastor of a few churches in London. The last churches he co-pastored before he fell ill were the London Southeast Community, Southwest Community and Elephant and Castle churches.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mrs Alice Sackey and two children. Pastor Osei says, "Please join me as we pray for his widow Sis Alice Sackey and their children during this time of grief. May the Lord comfort them and give them His peace."
